Fergal Smith has been making a name for himself down in the southern hemisphere this Summer. Its great to see an Irish surfer being classified as one of the best big wave surfers in the World. A recent article in Surfline highlighted him as a stand out surfer at big wave session in Tahiti, along with Laid Hamilton. His current fame is growing after being featured in short films by Nixon and Billabong. The young Irish man showcased his talent by surfing some of the biggest waves ever paddled into at Cloudbreak, in Fiji. Check out the photo of ferg standing in a monster keg! Mega respect Ferg from all the Lahinch Surf Experience crew. We hope to have you back in one piece for another epic winter surfing in Ireland. check out the video below of ferg getting shacked at Teahupoo!
“Irish surfer Fergal Smith arrived in Tahiti on the previous swell, 10 days ago. He was out at dawn every morning and was one of the paddle-in stand outs, picking all his waves perfectly.” SURFLINE.com – June 2011
