From a Health & Safety point of view the new surf school area is not a suitable place to operate a surf school/surf rental business. We no longer have a visual of the ocean. When the lifeguards are not on duty, which is most of the year. We regularly rescue people and monitor the ocean. When there is 100’s of people using the ocean at Easter, May and September we become the lifeguards, we save lives. Losing eye contact with the ocean could be costly.
Also the logistics of operating in the new surf area make it unsuitable. surfers now have to walk up a busy access road in the lower car park and cross a busy road to access the sea. This is not a safe arrangement.
There is simply not enough space for all surf schools to operate in such a confined space. Having all the surf schools piled on top of each other has created a confusing and intimidating environment for customers. So many people think we have closed down as they can’t find us.
So sign the petition and get onto the north Clare councillors and express yourself. Otherwise your opinion is in vain. Here is the councillors contact details.
