Peter Conroy from the little seaside town of Milltown Malbay in west County Clare was recently nominated for a Billabong XXL award. Peter works in Dublin as a fireman but spends most of his free time on the Clare coast getting some waves. The surfing hell man caught a monster wave in Mullaghmore County Sligo last January. It was one of the biggest swells of the year and Peter found himself in a mega keg big enough to drive his fire truck through. Thankfully Roo McCrudden was there to take some pics of the beast that Peter tamed. Peter’s efforts were recognised by Billabong and he now hopes to travel to L.A for the XXL awards night. He’s doing a bit of fundraising so help him out if you can. Peter is really putting Irish Surfing on the map and he has now been sponsored by Emerald Surfwear for his surfing endeavours.
There is a fundraising table quiz being held this Friday night at Friels in Miltown Malbay at 8pm and if you can make it that would be great. Emerald will be donating €300 worth of Emerald gear as spot prizes and there will be loads of other spot prizes on the night so if you are in the area please pop in and supportWe hope Peter makes it to California and that he gets an award for his work. That’s all for now, happy surfing from the Lahinch Surf Experience crew!
